# Developer guide

Use Node.js 24 and npm 11. Run `npm ci`, `npm run setup`, and `npm run dev` from `frontend/`. The frontend opens at http://127.0.0.1:3000; the backend defaults to http://127.0.0.1:3001. Follow the backend README to start local PostgreSQL, Redis, and the analysis service.

Keep `RPC_URL` and `ACCESS_KEY` in server-only environment settings. The browser uses `/api/rpc` for HTTP and `/api/rpc/ws` for subscriptions. Never place provider secrets in `NEXT_PUBLIC_*` values, browser bundles, or public responses.

The root app shares the maintained frontend routes. Use the custom Node server for WebSocket upgrades. Run lint, TypeScript, unit tests, and the production build after a change. Check running routes and the real provider independently.

Public GitHub repository analysis can use the local backend. Private repository onboarding requires a configured GitHub App and private key.

Wallet connection does not authorize a transfer. Every supported transaction requires explicit wallet approval. Mainnet registration remains disabled while the configured registry programs are unavailable.
